Hillel Israel:
Israeli salad program

Hillel Israel is an organization that operates from a pluralistic worldview that aims to strengthen the Jewish identity of Israeli students and deepen their sense of belonging to the Jewish community through their exposure and deepening their familiarity with the wide variety of Jewish communities and identities that exist in the world today.

“Israeli Salad” is a unique Israeli leadership and identity program that takes place in Jerusalem. The program involves 20 students who undergo training and content on leadership issues alongside volunteering with seniors. The program is intended for students from all educational institutions in Jerusalem when the content meetings take place on the “har tzofim” campus of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The suggested activity for students

The program is 120 hours long and consists of three parts:

  1. Workshops on Israeli identity , leadership, social entrepreneurship and activism. The workshops will be held on Mondays from 18:30 to 21:00 on selected dates throughout the year (40 hours).

  2. Individual volunteering with an elderly person in his / her home (40 hours).

  3. "Gveret im Salim" (lady with baskets) - Volunteering in the "Mahane Yehuda" market, giving assistance to the elderly in carrying baskets, on Thursdays between 17: 00-19: 00 (40 hours).


The selection workshops for the program will take place on

October 13 (Tuesday) - 18: 30-20: 30.

Activity days and hours:

Meetings on Mondays between 18:30-21:00

Volunteering at the Mahane Yehuda market on Thursdays between 17:00-19:00

volunteering individually: flexible, in coordination with the elderly
